    • Great opportunity for a strategic and “hands on” Operations Manager to join a well-established Australian manufacturing Company that manufactures a range of “made to order” building products and solutions for their customers in every state of Australia in the residential building sector.  In Victoria, this position within the company manages a large sized multiple operation with a mix of production processes, a relatively fast-paced environment, and with short lead time delivery requirements. This role relates to a single site. 

    • Reporting to the Regional GM, you will be responsible for leading, managing and coaching the production teams in this location, to achieve the company’s overall production objectives, take full ownership and responsibility for their contribution, as well as managing the dispatch / transportation of goods to meet all customer requirements.  As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for all operational costs, and the management of all operational resources to budget. You will be involved in: managing and supporting the ongoing effectiveness of your Team Leaders ensuring product quality, on time and in full product delivery (DIFOT), coordinating rosters / schedules, the proactive continuous “bedding down” and continuous improvement of all systems and processes within the operational area, ensuring the companies OH & S policy, dispatch / transport, overseeing plant reliability / maintenance programs, effective liaison internally with all onsite personnel (as well as key stakeholders, customers etc), fostering a positive and proactive “can do” responsive customer service culture, etc 

    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate:  a minimum of 10+ years Production Management experience (in a unionized environment) in manufacturing processes with a made to order product with fast process flow to the customer, experience managing transport & logistics functions within a manufacturing operation – ideally within the building products and or industrial sector.  A collaborative style Leader, a coach and mentor, you will have demonstrated the effective day-to-day management and leadership of teams within a medium to large sized operation (that continues to grow) having trained and developed personnel to maximize their skill set and achieve all company objectives – including managing a cultural change of empowerment, accountability, and responsibility.  A Trade background or Manufacturing / Engineering Degree with Lean manufacturing or 5S or other process improvement systems (including ERP systems) will be highly regarded but is not essential.
